“I was referred to Dr. Prokopis after cutting a vacation short due to a fractured wrist that I had temporarily cast while out of the country. He just happened to have the first available opening the next day. He knew exactly what to do, understood that I wanted to return to my prior level of activities, said I was young and healthy and that surgery was the best option. So I went ahead, what other options did I have. It was an extraordinarily challenging and grueling process to get back my full function, but I felt I was in excellent hands, being closely monitored throughout the entire process. I just had to trust that I would fully recover knowing how skilled Dr. Prokopis was. He was so meticulous and rigid with his protocol but I knew he had his reasons and trusted that in the end I would get back to my life. I stuck to the program, going to outpatient OT initially 2x/week then 3x/week so that I could return to work at the earliest possible date. Now I am back to my physically challenging job, practicing yoga, running, and cooking, all things that require two fully functioning and robust hands/wrists/shoulders! I got most of my range of motion back except for some flexion but it doesn't limit any part of my life. I feel I got the best outcome possible for the seriousness of my injury. In the end, I felt very fortunate and grateful to have had Dr. Prokopis as my hand surgeon. From his perspective, I 'sailed' through the recovery, as things healed well and in a timely manner with no complications.”
