“As a nurse needing a hip replacement who has spent most of her career in the field of rehabilitation, I knew my work experience would help me in this necessary process. Of course nurses think at times they know more then they actually do. It takes a team effort for the desired income. I was humbled the first week after surgery. Dr. Lombardi and his team had instructed me of making it easy during the first six weeks and doing only the exercises they gave with activity guidelines. Two days after surgery I asked my 16 year old daughter to walk along with me and my rolling walker down the street. My daughter said, "Is this a good idea Mom. Remember you have to walk back." I was anxious to start PT but couldn't because Dr Lombardi said in his experience that this course of treatment was better. He and his team stated this to me and they were right. I payed for my unwise actions and learned a valuable lesson. I am now three months post op; still having my PT at the outpatient center where I work and going back to my FT job so much better than I have in years. My overall quality of life has improved and some valuable lessons learned from the experience. Thank you.”

“I am a 67-year-old man who played all sorts of sports throughout my life. The pressure I placed on my hips was overbearing. The pain in both hips started years ago, but I delayed surgery and now it's necessary.
Initially, I went to HSS in NY and was not comfortable with what I heard from their doctors. They were adamant in doing the posterior approach, which I believed was an older technology.
I met with Dr. Lombardi in August and he saw that both hips were beyond treatment with medicine, but that surgery was required. Dr. Lombardi was professional and courteous with a comforting bedside manner which made me feel comfortable and at ease. He recommended the newer approach using the anterior method.
My left hip was done in October. I was in the hospital for 1 day and Dr. Lombardi and his PA, Oliver was there to answer questions and explain what I needed to do to start the healing process.
My right hip was done on January 9th at 10 AM and I was home by 9 PM, the same day. I was driving within a week and started swinging golf clubs by mid March.
It’s been 6 months since my first surgery and 3 months since my last surgery and I am playing golf and feel great.

“Better than I could have ever anticipated! Morristown Hospital is so very experienced and well equipped for total knee replacement surgery. I could not believe that I was standing on my new knee the day of surgery. Dr Lombardi is some kind of miracle worker. Within a month, I was back to work, with no pain at all and just a skinny little scar. I'd expected something more Frankenstein-esque. My mobility is greatly increased, thanks to my new right knee. Now all I want for Christmas is a new LEFT knee!
