David M Epstein M.D.
Ankle, Foot, Knee, Shoulder, and Sports Medicine
The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Epstein.
“Dr. Epstien is very personable and explained to me what was wrong and the options to fix it in a very straight forward manner. He was clear, concise and left no questions unanswered. I was very happy with his care both in office and during the procedure itself. He listened to all of my concerns and took into consideration my physical abilities and desires when discussing options for treatment as well as for planning my surgery date. In all, I could not have been happier with the level of care that I was provided.”
– Amanda L.
“I felt that my experience with Dr. Epstein was excellent. He did a biplanar chevron osteotomy, a bunion corrective procedure, on both of my feet with great results. He was knowledgeable, comforting, and had great bedside manner. The results of the procedures were great, as I only have small scars on the sides of my feet. My older scar is already faded and has gotten smaller over time. I think that he picked the best procedure possible for me, as demonstrated by the excellent results. I haven't had any complications with the procedures, either recent or older, and I would definitely recommend him based on my experiences with him.”
– E K.
“I went in for shoulder surgery and not only was the surgery itself well done, the involvement with physical therapy and gaining back strength and range of motion was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend Dr. Epstein for an evaluation, second opinion, or surgery.”
– Jason H.
“Dr. Epstein is an absolute stud. He repaired my Achilles, and from the initial consultation I know I was in good hands. He has a very calming demeanor and always has time to answer any question. In addition, his surgical technique left a scar so small that left my two friends who have had the same surgery in awe. Thanks for making a tough process a lot easier, Dr. Epstein.”
– James B.
“Through a basic household chore, I tore my rotator cuff and popped the bicep out of its joint. The ortho I had been seeing for several years at the time told me that through an arthroscopic procedure, they would repair the rotator cuff and snip the bicep which would leave me with what is known as "Popeye arm". The bicep would fall down around my elbow. That wasn't something that sat well with me...so I sought out a second opinion from Dr. Epstein. I am so very thankful that I did. Almost 6 months after my surgery I am well on my way to a full recovery with my bicep in the exact spot that it should be. The surgery went very well and the recovery is as expected... Dr. Epstein is very knowledgeable in his field. He explained everything prior to the procedure including the recovery time and protocol. In addition, he is very soft spoken and kind..which is always a plus. My scars are minimal and barely noticeable... I do highly recommend Dr. Epstein. I am happy I had my procedure done by him. Side note, I also brought my daughter to see him after experiencing pains in her ankles due to her sport...he was very nice and patient with her and made her feel comfortable. After following his recommendations, she was feeling better in no time.”

“Excellent experience with Dr. Epstein. He is a great doctor. Most of your staff are very professional and courteous. However, when I call for a refill on the prescription that Dr. Epstein has prescribed for me, they often don’t even respond to me. It has been one week since I tried to refill my order and not also the courtesy of a response to my pharmacy or me.”
– Elaine D.

– Stephen C.

“I am just shy of 12 weeks out of surgery for a full tear of one tendon and a partial tear of another one in my rotator cuff. Additionally, I had my clavicle cleaned up for some arthritis. My experience with Tri-County Orthopedics and Dr. Epstein has been great. I was recommended to Tri-County Orthopedics by my chiropractor when my MRI results came back with the bad news. When I couldn’t meet with my recommend ortho since he was away, I was nervous when I first met with Dr. Epstein because he looked so young. Dr. Epstein quickly helped alleviate any of my concerns with how knowledgeable and friendly he was. Surgery went very well, and after an initial tough four week stretch of not being able to sleep much, my recovery is going extremely well. My PTs have told me they have never seen such mobility and strength this quick after such a surgery, which I attribute to Dr. Epstein and all of the great folks at Tri-County Ortho. I will be recommending Dr. Epstein to any friends and family that need to go through this painful procedure in the future. Thank you Tri-County Orthopedics and Dr. Epstein!”

“I was referred to Dr. Epstein by my friend who happens to be a physical therapist at Sports Care in Wayne. When I first met Dr. Epstein, I immediately knew it was the perfect fit for me as I have had bad experiences with other orthopedic surgeons in the past. He listened to my concerns and gave me options on how to resolve the issue. After exhausting those options, I decided to move forward with surgery. Everything went exceptionally well, and I’m super pleased with the results. Dr. Epstein has this calming presence about him and explains everything in full details which made me much more comfortable and confident in his abilities. He is fantastic at what he does, and my incision looks fantastic! Thanks, Dr. Epstein for all that you have done so far!! I also have to say the staff is terrific!! I will recommend him and the practice.”

“Dr. David Epstein is highly recommended. I had a choice of going to other good doctors for my torn Achilles tendon, but a friend suggested to see Dr. Epstein as he had also used his services before. I am glad that I did. I decided right then and there that I wanted him to help me with my leg problem. The surgery and recovery went better than I had expected. Thank you, doctor.”

“I was on vacation in Cooperstown, NY and went to the ER for my foot/ankle because it was bothering me and very swollen! They did not do anything. Went to Urgent Care when I got back and tested me for Lyme and did an x-ray. Said I had sprained ankle. Over two weeks and still in pain and unable to walk I saw Dr. Epstein. I am wearing a boot on my foot, and I am already feeling better! Office staff so lovely too! The third time I have been there and each time a pleasant experience.”
– Lisa C.

“I used very favorable reviews of Dr. Epstein to help decide on using him for my rotator cuff surgery, and now I’m writing one. In every respect, Dr. Epstein’s operation has been a success and, at 13 weeks, well beyond what I expected from all the cautionary stories about this difficult surgery and recovery, especially for someone over 70. Mine was a complete tear as well as two other procedures. From other patients I know of, my recovery is ahead of most. I had only two days of real pain and stopped taking pain meds thereafter, except for Advil. Dr. Epstein is skilled, very personable and accessible, both before the surgery and with great follow-up meetings. He always has time to answer your questions and knows his subject in and out. His staff at Tri-County is attentive and empathetic. After my surgery, I found out that my brother-in-law had used Dr. Epstein a few months earlier for foot surgery which also went very well. If I ever have the need for an orthopedic surgeon, I know where to go. Thank you, Dr. Epstein.”
– Harold F.

“On March 1st, I had bilateral compartment syndrome surgery with Dr. Epstein. Dr. Epstein was straightforward about the procedure and the recovery, and emphasized his availability to answer questions or concerns throughout the next few months. The surgical team for my procedure was better than I could have asked for. I felt completely at ease going into the operation and woke up with no complaints. I was given crutches but was able to walk slowly without them by three days post-op. Although I was prescribed painkillers, I only took four Tylenol in days following my surgery. In addition, I was warned about numbness and tingling that could occur due to an irritated or damaged nerve in my shin, however I did not experience this at all. Despite how active I was during the first 10 days of recovery, my four scars healed perfectly and are very cosmetic. 12 days post-op, I was back at Penn State University, walking a few miles each day. I experienced expected swelling and a little fatigue, as it took much more effort to walk, but no pain or lasting discomfort. Exactly six weeks after my surgery and four weeks after starting physical therapy, I was able to run on my own again. Prior to my surgery, I experienced severe pain in the first half mile of jogging that forced me to stop. Now, I am running upwards of three miles each day on pavement, sand, track, or turf, with no pain or other symptoms. My operation was a complete success and I am extremely happy with my decision to use Tri-County Orthopedics. Dr. Epstein is an incredible surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone.”
